Materials and sustainability
We favour durable, repairable materials: natural stone, permeable gravel build-ups, FSC-certified timber where appropriate, clay pavers and regionally available plants. We avoid unnecessary plastic edging and overly complex details that fail after two winters.
For sustainability, the most useful choices are often practical: keeping healthy existing trees, reducing irrigated lawn, improving soil, using permeable surfaces and selecting plants that do not require constant replacement.
